Today, the Hörmann Group is run by the third and fourth generation, i.e. the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of company founder August Hörmann. Thomas J. Hörmann, Martin J. Hörmann, and Christoph Hörmann are the personally liable general partners.

International growth
The Hörmann Group is an internationally-oriented, fast-growing company. Gates, doors, frames and operators are manufactured for the markets in Europe, North America and Asia at 15 highly-specialised factories. Employing more than 6,000 staff, this 100% family-owned company has achieved over 1 billion euros in sales. Innovative products
The foundation for today's company was laid in the 1950s with the industrial production of a new type of garage door: the "Berry" up-and-over door.

In the 1960s, space-saving, vertically opening sectional doors for garages, as well as for industrial and commercial buildings, initiated a development with a promising future.

Since then, the product range has been extended systematically. Today, it includes well-known classics, plus rolling shutters, folding, fire, and high-speed doors, door operators and controls, as well as loading technology systems, fire and smoke-tight door assemblies, entrance and internal doors, canopies and frames.

Hörmann (Series 2000) garage doors are assembled at the new Hörmann factory in Leicestershire from components sourced from both the continent and the U.K.  All Hörmann garage doors are manufactured according to the Quality Management System DIN ISO 9001 and meet all the requirements of the European Standard 13241.

NOVOFERM

In 1955 Isselwerk Werth GmbH was founded by Mr. Sandscheper and Mr. Hoffmann in Isselburg-Werth. The production programme comprised products of general metal and steel construction such as doors, garage doors, railings, windows, distributing rollers and steel shelves.

In 1962 Mr. Sandscheper and Mr. Hoffmann established the steel door production in Haldern. The plant in Haldern was built up and a production for fire-resistant doors started. The activities in Werth and Haldern merged into one company under the name Isselwerke GmbH & Co. KG in 1970. In the same year the Hoesch AG acquired 25 % of the company’s shares and took over 100 % in 1990.

Internationalization of activities began with the acquisition of Julien Redois S.A. and Soferba S.A. in France - now Novoferm France S.A. - and foundation of Novoferm Espana S.A. in 1991. Isselwerke GmbH & Co. KG was renamed into "Novoferm GmbH" one year later. Furthermore, shares of the Dutch manufacturer of industrial doors Debo Holding B.V. were acquired in 1992, and sales companies in the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and Switzerland were set up. Step by step Siebau Siegener Stahlbauten GmbH and Riexinger Türenwerke GmbH also became members of Novoferm as from 1993. With Novoferm Belgium N.V. a sales subsidiary in Belgium was established (1994), and so was a sales company for industrial doors in France (1996). The Italian door producer Schievano S.r.l. was also acquired in 1996, a sales subsidiary was built up in Greece and Novoferm entered into a joint venture with Novoferm Alsal S.A. in Spain. Sales companies in Great Britain, Romania and the Czech Republic opened in the following year. Moreover, a French producer of fire-resistant doors, Lutermax S.A., was acquired. One year later, a most up-to-date European plant for sectional doors was ceremonially opened in Dortmund. Novoferm took a 50 % share in the Dong Bang Steel Door Inc., South Korea, in 2000, and acquired the operator manufacturer tormatic GmbH in 2001. In 2003 followed establishments of companies in Denmark and Croatia as well as the foundation of NovoPort GmbH, a sales company for garage doors and operators in Austria.

The entire Novoferm Group was sold to the Japanese Sanwa Holdings Corp. (presently Sanwa Holdings Corporation) by ThyssenKrupp in 2003. With Novoferm CIS a sales subsidiary was set up in Russia, and further shares of the service and maintenance company TST GmbH were acquired in 2004. In addition, joint ventures with AS Steelgoods GmbH (Germany), ARC d.o.o. (Slovenia) and Novoferm Balkan Inc. (Bulgaria) were founded as from 2004.

SWS UK is a leading British manufacturer of physical security products with a reputation for innovation and unrivalled customer service.

Established in 1985 and operating from Lancaster premises, the company has grown quickly; expanding the workforce to almost 200 employees and necessitating a move in December 2000 to the present Claughton, Lancashire manufacturing base.

The company's dedicated Research & Development dept. continues to refine the product range, ensuring SWS UK's security shutters, retractable gates, window bars and roller garage doors are always at the forefront of technology. In addition to enhancing the existing range,
there is also a focus on developing exciting new lines; the SWS UK selection of Police approved 'Secured by Design' products continues to broaden despite already being the most comprehensive range available from any security manufacturer

The history of SWS UK is highlighted by a number of important industry firsts

1997 SeceuroBar removable window bar system: new product award winner at Ifsec security expo.

1997 Turned security expertise to the garage door market, launching SeceuroGlide, the first insulated garage door for specialists in the UK.

1999 Became the UK’s sole distributor of the off-the-shelf Xpanda range of economically priced security.

2001 Launched SeceuroGlide Compact, the UK’s first low headroom insulated roller garage door.

2003 Introduced continental commercial shutters, combining traditional steel shutters with aluminium boxes and guides for higher grade, easier installations.

2005 First UK shutter and roller garage door manufacturer to comply with the EU’s Construction Products Directive safety standards.

2007 Launched SeceuroGlide Excel, the first and only Police and Insurance approved garage door on the market. 

Another cornerstone of SWS UK's success is its national network of specialist distributors. Working in partnership to supply, install and support, distributors provide a trusted, experienced and local source for the SWS UK product range.

SWS UK is an ISO 9001:2008 registered company. The company also holds membership of the DHF (Door & Hardware Federation) and is a supporting manufacturer of the AGDS (Association of Garage Door Specialists). In addition, SWS UK are also proud holders of the official Police 'Secured by Design' approved manufacturer status.

SWS UK are a member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network and are able to provide RIBA-assessed construction CPD on ‘Intelligent, unobtrusive use of roller shutters and retractable gates’.

GARADOR

Garador Ltd is part of the Hormann group, Europe’s largest garage door manufacturer. Manufacturing from its factory in Yeovil, Garador prides itself not only on providing quality products, but on fully supporting its distributor and installer base.

Garador up & over doors are available in a wide variety of designs in steel, timber and GRP. From ribbed steel doors, through panelled steel doors in pristine white pre-finished finish. 2005 also saw the introduction of a range of standard colour options comprising Blue, Red, Green and Black in addition to the white and brown options already available. From elegant traditional timber styles to the perfect definition of maintenance-free gloss-white or woodgrain GRP, there is a choice of garage door to suit every situation and every budget

Within the past couple of years Garador have made extensive investments at the Yeovil Factory, making it the most modern of its kind in Europe. These developments have allowed us to meet our goal of providing customers with products that fulfil their most important requirements of high-quality, reliable garage doors and mechanisms delivered at affordable cost.
